Whale Shark at Koh Rong Nang

Whale Shark at Koh Rong Nang

Exciting day on board Mermaids 1 when divers spotted this beautiful Whale Shark just off of Koh Rong Nong in Samaesan.

It’s a rare opportunity for us to see Whale Sharks and especially at this time of the year but thanks to the quick actions of Andrew, PADI Divemaster, he captured it in all it’s glory. Thank you Andrew, your video is amazing.

Whale Sharks like water areas and are found in tropical waters all the the world. A large percentage fo them are found in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, but with our warm water temperatures in Thailand, it’s a natural haven for them.

fact: A whale shark’s mouth is about 5 feet wide (1.5 m). They have rows of over 300 teeth, but as filter feeders they do not use these teeth to eat.
